BCC Integrates Learning Communities into Curriculum 

Student success means more than retention rates at BCC. It's about making effective connections that last beyond the classroom and into the working world. Those connections are at the core of "learning communities," now part of the curriculum.

Neal Earmarks $350,000 for BCC

Congressman Richard E. Neal, Chair of the House Committee on Ways and Means, visited BCC to announce a $350,000 earmark for upgrades to the nursing program's simulation equipment.

BCC Receives More than $1M in Grant Funds  

BCC has been awarded $1,080,231 in grant funds from a U.S. Department of Health and Human Services program.  The four-year grant will provide stipends, partial reimbursement of tuition and fees, and supplies for up to 15 students per year enrolled in BCC's Mental Health, Addiction Recovery, and Human Services certificate programs.

BCC's English Classes for Afghan Evacuees Proves Successful 

In the spring of 2022, Berkshire Community College enrolled 20 Afghan evacuees in a pilot program designed to teach them English and help assimilate them into American life.

Public Notice: Upcoming Site Visit by ACEN for PN Program

Berkshire Community College (BCC) has announced that it will host a site visit for initial accreditation of its Practical Nurse (PN) Certificate nursing program by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).

BCC, MCLA Join to Offer 'Associates to Bachelors' Pathway to Teacher Licensure

Berkshire Community College (BCC) and Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) announce the creation of a joint "Associates to Bachelors" program intended to provide an efficient pathway to teacher licensure. The program is specifically designed for paraprofessionals currently employed by pre-K-12 schools in Berkshire County. Paraprofessionals support students under the supervision of a teacher.

BCC Awarded $735K as Part of Commonwealth's Workforce Training Grant

Berkshire Community College (BCC) has received a $735,000 workforce training grant, part of a total of $15 million awarded to the Commonwealth's 15 community colleges. Each college is allocated 75 seats for training courses, and additional funds will be made available from the grant's remaining $3.45 million after a school expends the current allocation.

BCC Foundation Introduces Richard J. Melluzzo Scholarship

-- The Berkshire Community College (BCC) Foundation announces the creation of the Richard J. Melluzzo Scholarship, made possible by an anonymous donor in honor of the beloved late psychologist and public health administrator. Melluzzo, who died in December 2021, was a resident of Great Barrington for more 45 years and was an active member of the community.

Professor Wins Open Education Resources Award

Berkshire Community College (BCC) congratulates Professor of Life Sciences Fayette Reynolds for winning second place in the Massachusetts Open Educational Resources (OER) Advisory Council's first annual OER Olympic Awards. Reynolds created BCC's Bioscience Image Library, which offers students and the general public free access to microscopic images of plants, animals, bacteria, fungi and more. The images are particularly useful for students studying biology, botany, zoology, histology and microbiology.

BCC Wins $350,000 Grant for Nursing Simulation (SIM) Equipment Upgrade

Berkshire Community College (BCC) has been awarded a $350,000 grant to acquire new simulation (SIM) equipment for its nursing programs, allowing for the first substantive upgrade of such equipment since 2009. The grant was provided by state Community Project Funding secured by Congressman Richard Neal.
